The 72nd Annual Miss Georgia Pageant concluded tonight at the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts in Columbus, Georgia. Forty-nine women from across the state have been competing for academic scholarship and the title of 2016 Miss Georgia. Contestants have competed in preliminary competitions of Interview, Swimsuit, Talent, and Evening Wear leading up to tonight’s final competition.
The night began with the naming of the top fifteen for Miss Georgia. They were: Miss University of Georgia, Annie Jorgensen; Miss Fayette County, Holly Haynes; Miss Atlanta, Lindsay Quandt; Miss Southeast Georgia, Sarah Deloach; Miss Hummingbird Festival, Sydney Hillman; Miss Cobb County, Brooke Doss; Miss Presidential Pathways, Kaylee Ewing; Miss Troup County, Paula Smith; Miss Golden Isles, Alyssa Beasley; Miss Middle West Georgia, Kelly Donoghue; Miss Rome, Chari Guzman; Miss Albany, Sarah Whetsell; Miss Greater Atlanta, Heather Burgess; Miss Fulton County, Rosa Campos; Miss Capital City, Patricia Ford.
The top fifteen then competed in Swimsuit before the field was narrowed to the top ten semi-finalists. The semi-finalists were: Miss University of Georgia, Annie Jorgensen; Miss Southeast Georgia, Sarah Deloach; Miss Cobb County, Brooke Doss; Miss Troup County, Paula Smith; Miss Golden Isles, Alyssa Beasley; Miss Middle West Georgia, Kelly Donoghue; Miss Rome, Chari Guzman; Miss Albany, Sarah Whetsell; Miss Greater Atlanta, Heather Burgess; Miss Capital City, Patricia Ford. These contestants competed in the Talent and Evening Wear competitions before announcing the top five finalists. Patricia Ford was then selected as the 2016 Miss Georgia, receiving $15,000 in scholarship awards, and the opportunity to compete in the 2017 Miss America pageant starting on September 2, 2016, in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Also receiving scholarship awards were fourth runner-up, Miss Southeast Georgia, Sarah Deloach ($2500); third runner-up, Miss Rome, Chari Guzman ($3500); second runner-up, Miss Golden Isles, Alyssa Beasley ($5000); first runner-up, Miss Cobb County ($7500). The remaining semi-finalists received a $1000 scholarship and the remaining top fifteen received a $1500 scholarship.
